Infant and Child Development Lab
The Lincoln Babylab opened in 2000 and research has been concentrating on different areas of categorisation and conceptual development as well as speech perception and language acquisition, especially word learning and early grammar.

In the motor lab we carry out research into how sensory information is used to control action, both in adults and from a developmental perspective. Particular interests are in the coupling mechanisms between the hands during bimanual movements, and the differing roles of the preferred and non preferred hands in this. We also look at the links between the development of motor skills and cognition.

Field Site (Morocco)
The Barbary Macaque Project field site is located near the city of Azrou, in the Middle Atlas Mountains (33° 24’N – 005° 12’W). Azrou is a lively city of around 50,000 inhabitants and we currently rent two very nice flats in the city, with internet access and other facilities.

In the imagination lab we carry out research into social cognition in the areas of perspective taking, mentalising and neuroeconomics. The methods used are dictated by the question we try to answer; the question comes first, then we pick the best method to tackle it.

Where do we look and why? Eye trackers can constantly record with great precision and in real-time where we are looking. They show which parts of an image or scene interest us or how we search for possible features – searching for minutiae to match fingerprints, looking for a camouflaged vehicle in an aerial photo, or spotting the explosives in x-rayed baggage.
Preferential Looking Lab for Dogs
In collaboration with Prof. Daniel Mills and Dr. K. Guo a Dog Preferential Looking lab was set up on the Riseholme Campus. This lab is using the Lincoln Infant lab set up and software. By creating this dog lab, Lincoln now has a world-wide unique facility to test infants and dogs and to compare results directly and joint research projects take place.
Combined Infant and Child EEG
Set up in spring 2011 in collaboration with Dr. Petra Pollux to develop a novel method of testing infant behaviour, perception and cognition.
